NEXUS

Executive Summary

The Dragonmaid archetype is a Midrange Fusion and Control strategy that excels in long, drawn-out games. Unlike decks that build a massive board on turn one, Dragonmaids focus on accumulating advantage through a robust, self-replenishing engine. Their objective is to provide unparalleled service and hospitality to their controller, cycling resources between the hand, field, and Graveyard to outlast and overwhelm the opponent in a war of attrition.

The "Tag-Out" System

The core mechanic of the Dragonmaid archetype is its unique Battle Phase "Tag-Out" system. The small "Maid" forms can return to the hand at the start of the Battle Phase to summon a large "Dragon" form from the hand or Graveyard. Conversely, the large Dragons return to the hand at the end of the Battle Phase to revive a small Maid. This constant cycling is the deck's lifeblood, allowing for both offensive pressure and resource recursion by ensuring key combo pieces are always available.

The Staff and Their Forms: Core Cards

The Maids: Engine Starters

Chamber Dragonmaid

The most important starter. On summon, she searches any "Dragonmaid" Spell/Trap, giving you access to your Fusion, revival, or disruption cards.

Parlor Dragonmaid

Sets up the Graveyard for future plays. On summon, she sends a "Dragonmaid" card from the deck to the GY, loading it with revival targets or spells with GY effects.

Nurse Dragonmaid

Provides recursion by reviving another small Dragonmaid from the Graveyard when she is summoned.

The Dragons: Utility & Power

Dragonmaid Ernus

A hand-trap extender. Discard her to Special Summon a small Dragonmaid from your hand, helping play through disruption.

Dragonmaid Lorpar

Provides monster effect negation from the hand by discarding herself.

Dragonmaid Tinkhec

A powerful battle-phase tool. Discard her to give a Dragonmaid a 2000 ATK boost for the turn.

Core Combo: One-Card Starters

Any of Chamber, Parlor, or Kitchen Dragonmaid can establish a powerful opening board using the same core strategy: get both a Humanoid and Draconic form of the same maid into accessible zones to create valid Fusion materials.

Competitive Analysis

Strengths

  • Insane Grind Game: The resource loop is one of the best, allowing the deck to outlast many others.
  • Resource Recursion: Constantly adds cards back to hand, making it resilient to board wipes.
  • Resilient Bosses: Sheou's floating effect makes it difficult for opponents to permanently remove your main threat.

Weaknesses

  • Graveyard Dependent: Cards that banish from the GY (like Bystials or D.D. Crow) can shut down the entire engine.
  • Choke Points: Relies heavily on the Normal Summon of Chamber or Parlor; negating it can often end the turn.
  • Slow Buildup: Can be too slow against hyper-aggressive combo decks that win on turn two.

External Engines & Hybrids

  • Bystial Engine: Provides additional disruption and high-level Dragon bodies for Fusion Summons, synergizing perfectly with the deck's attributes.
  • Super Polymerization: An incredibly powerful board-breaking tool, allowing you to use opponent's monsters as Fusion material.
