An Analysis of the Fluffy Xyz Archetype
The Purrely archetype is a complex and powerful Xyz-based engine centered on nurturing a single Level 1 monster. By feeding it "Memory" Quick-Play Spells, this small creature rapidly accumulates materials and evolves into a formidable boss monster. The strategy is a unique blend of combo, resource management, and control, capable of creating nearly unbreakable boards. Success with this deck requires a deep understanding of its intricate play lines and resource loops, which transform a collection of adorable memory-based cards into a decisive victory condition.
The high-risk, high-reward starter. Its excavation effect can jump-start your combos instantly.
The consistent setup monster. It searches for key support cards like "My Friend Purrely," ensuring your engine runs smoothly.
These Quick-Play Spells are the lifeblood of the engine. They not only provide unique effects but also act as starters by summoning a Level 1 Purrely from the deck.
The fundamental goal is to summon a Level 1 Purrely, evolve it into a Rank 2, and "feed" it "Memory" spells to prepare for its final evolution.
Activate a "Memory" spell, discard a card, and Special Summon Purrely from your Deck.
Use the on-field Purrely to Xyz Summon a Rank 2 "Epurrely" monster. Activate more "Memory" spells from your hand to attach them as materials.
Once the Rank 2 has 5+ materials, use it to Xyz Summon the Rank 7 boss monster, Expurrely Noir.
The primary goal when going first is to summon Expurrely Noir with at least five materials. This creates a formidable boss monster that is unaffected by your opponent's activated effects.
LOW IMPACT: The Purrely archetype has minor restrictions on the TCG banlist, with 2 cards semi-limited.
Meta Implications: Thanks to its Recursive Quick-Play engine provides strong grind game and recovery from disruption, Purrely remains playable despite the limitation.
