Dominance in WATER Combo Strategies
The "Deep Sea" series is not a standalone archetype but a compact, powerful engine designed to synergize with and elevate pre-existing WATER attribute strategies, most notably Mermail and Atlantean decks. Introduced in Eternity Code, this engine provides modern tools for hand knowledge, proactive disruption, and explosive combo extension. Its core lies in leveraging discard costs as benefits and enabling one-card starters like the veteran Deep Sea Diva to generate overwhelming board presence and resource advantage.
The premier one-card starter. A Level 2 Tuner that Special Summons a Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent from the Deck upon Normal Summon.
Provides hand knowledge and disruption by discarding itself and another WATER monster to banish a card from the opponent's hand.
A crucial combo extender. When Special Summoned, it can revive a Level 4 or lower WATER monster from the Graveyard.
A consistency tool that banishes a WATER monster from the GY to search any Level 4 or lower Sea Serpent.
A Level 7 Synchro Tuner that extends combos by summoning a WATER monster from the Deck.
A Level 5 Synchro Tuner that revives a Level 5 or higher WATER monster from the GY when sent there.
The deck's most devastating combo begins with "Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince," turning a single card into multi-faceted disruption that attacks the opponent's hand and field. This sequence showcases the synergy between the Deep Sea, Atlantean, and Mermail cards.
Normal Summon Neptabyss. Activate its effect, sending Atlantean Dragoons from Deck to GY. Neptabyss adds another Dragoons to hand.
The sent Dragoons triggers, searching Deep Sea Minstrel. Activate Minstrel's effect, discarding itself and the Dragoons from hand to banish a card from the opponent's hand.
The second discarded Dragoons triggers, searching Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord. With 5 WATER monsters now in the GY, Special Summon Moulinglacia to discard two more cards from the opponent's hand.
Discards 2 random cards from the opponent's hand upon summon, crippling their resources.
A once-key piece, its Quick Effect prevents the opponent from activating any card effects in their Graveyard for the turn. It is now forbidden.
Provided a powerful omni-negate by sending an Aqua monster to the GY, and could set the negated card. It is now forbidden.
The Deep Sea archetype itself is largely untouched by the TCG banlist, but key synergistic cards it relies on are affected.
