Analysis of the Dragon Legion's Ascent
The Dragunity archetype is defined by its unique symbiotic relationship between Winged Beast "riders" and Dragon "steeds." This core mechanic, where riders equip Dragon Tuners from the hand, Deck, or Graveyard, has evolved from a mid-range strategy into an explosive, hyper-combo deck. Modern support, centered around the Field Spell Dragon Ravine, allows the deck to consistently "Synchro Climb" into multiple high-impact boss monsters, establishing formidable end boards in a single turn.
The deck's power is built upon a tight-knit group of starters and extenders that search, special summon, and recycle each other with incredible efficiency.
Dragunity Remus: The ultimate starter. Discards itself to search for Dragon Ravine, and can revive itself from the GY.
Dragon Ravine: The deck's heart. Discards a card to either search a Dragunity monster or send a Dragon from deck to GY.
Dragunity Legatus: A free Special Summon while you control a Dragunity card, providing instant Synchro material.
Dragunity Dux/Senatus: Key Normal Summons that equip Dragon Tuners from the GY (Dux) or Deck (Senatus).
Dragunity Phalanx: The classic Level 2 Tuner. Special Summons itself from the Spell/Trap Zone when equipped.
Dragunity Couse: A more flexible Level 2 Tuner that can also modulate its Level, enabling precise Synchro plays.
This walkthrough demonstrates how Dragunity Remus and two discard fodder can build a powerful, multi-negate board.
Discard Remus to search Dragon Ravine. Activate Ravine, discard a card to search Dragunity Legatus.
Special Summon Legatus. Revive Remus from GY. Synchro Summon (LV4 Legatus + LV2 Remus) into Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg. Use its effect to dump Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite.
Revive Zephyros by bouncing Ravine. Link Summon Dragunity Knight - Romulus. Continue the combo line using Dragunity Arma Mystletainn and Dragunity Couse to Synchro Summon Borreload Savage Dragon, equipping Romulus for 2 negates.
Borreload Savage Dragon is currently banned in the TCG. Modern builds use alternatives like Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon or Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.
The Dragunity archetype itself is largely untouched by the TCG banlist, but key synergistic cards it relies on are affected.
