An Analysis of Attrition and Control
The Evil Eye archetype operates on a "Defend the Towers" strategy, focusing on a single, overwhelmingly powerful monster protected by disruptive effects. The goal is to create a threat that is exceptionally difficult to remove, forcing the opponent to exhaust resources while the Evil Eye player dismantles their strategy. At the heart of this is the symbiotic relationship between an "Evil Eye" monster and the Equip Spell, Evil Eye of Selene, turning the monster into a formidable "tower" immune to battle, targeting, and effect destruction.
The premier starter. On Normal Summon, it searches any "Evil Eye" card. When equipped with Selene, it becomes a Quick Effect monster destruction tool.
A critical extender that can summon itself from the hand or GY. It enables Link Summoning an "Evil Eye" monster during the opponent's turn for disruption.
The heart of the archetype. Provides protection and fuels the ATK boost/LP drain mechanic. Can set itself from the Graveyard for recovery.
A versatile Equip Spell that copies Selene's name. Its GY effect allows you to discard an "Evil Eye" card to search any "Evil Eye" Spell/Trap.
The Field Spell that searches for an "Evil Eye" monster on activation, making it another key starter.
A powerhouse consistency spell. It sends a monster and S/T from deck to GY as cost to search an Equip Spell, setting up multiple plays at once.
This walkthrough shows how one card, Evil Eyes Unleashed, establishes a board with multiple interruptions.
Activate Evil Eyes Unleashed. As cost, send Basiltrice and Gorgoneio from Deck to GY. Add Selene to hand.
Use Gorgoneio's GY effect, banishing it and discarding Selene to search for Pareidolia. Activate Pareidolia to search Serziel. Normal Summon Serziel to search for a trap like Evil Eye Retribution.
Activate Selene's GY effect. Pay 1000 LP and banish Unleashed to Set Selene directly to the field. Activate it, equipping to Serziel.
Serziel with Selene offers a Quick Effect monster pop and protection.
Basiltrice in GY allows for a Link Summon into Gorgon for a monster negate on the opponent's turn.
A set Counter Trap like Evil Eye Retribution provides backrow protection.
As of the current TCG format, the Evil Eye archetype is entirely unrestricted, allowing it to operate at full capacity.
