  1. Hong Xin, the official who opened a sealed chamber and set loose the 108 spirits that are reborn as the heroes: the novel's beginning, and so the first Fire Fist.

  2. Zhang Ling, the Celestial Master Hong Xin went looking for, who met him in the shape of a boy: hence a boy's body.

  3. Song Jiang, first of the 36 Heavenly Stars and leader of the 108; the kanji on his chest means "charging ahead". His tiger, the Han dynasty's king of beasts, burns white.

  4. Chao Gai, founder and guardian spirit of the outlaws, with a pair of guardian lions and the kanji "protector". With Tiger King, the only white flames.

  5. Lu Junyi, second of the heroes, "Jade Unicorn": a qilin, said to herald a sage or great ruler.

  6. Yan Qing, the orphan raised by Lu Junyi who served him loyally, so the two fight together in Fire Formation - Domei.

  7. Eland and Kirin. Its name is the Chinese name of Alcor, Mizar's companion star.

  8. Wu Yong, the strategist "Knowledgeable Star", and the first Fire Fist to debut worldwide.

  9. Wu Song, a drunken boxer, with a flask on his hip; the kanji on his belt means "wound".

  10. Yang Zhi, the "Blue Faced Beast".

  11. Bear and Gorilla, under Tensu, Alpha Ursae Majoris in the Great Bear. Like every Fire Formation it reworks an older card, here Double Summon.

  12. Rooster, Gorilla, Swallow, Caribou and Snake: the Five Tiger Generals of Water Margin.

  13. Lin Chong, "Panther Head": his beast is a snake for his eight-foot snake spear.

  14. Hu Sanniang, the first woman of the Brotherhood. She lassoed her enemies, fought the heroes, was captured by Lin Chong, and joined them.

  15. The "West Dipper": it needs as many Fire Formations as its constellation has stars. Tiger King and Lion Emperor stand in it.
