The Legend Returns

Firewall Dragon is the genesis of Cyberse dominance. Once the most feared card in history, its return marks the core identity of the modern deck.

The Forbidden Era (2018-2021)

Originally, Firewall Dragon lacked a "Once per turn" clause on its Special Summon effect. This enabled infinite loops where players could effectively summon their entire deck, leading to degenerate FTKs (First Turn Kills) and unbreakable Extra Links. It was rightfully Forbidden in 2018.

The Errata (2021)

To return to the game, it received a critically balanced errata:

  • Added "Hard Once Per Turn" (HOPT) to both effects.
  • Special Summon effect restricted to Cyberse monsters only.

"While Singularity rules the endgame and Darkfluid delivers the finishing blow, the original Firewall Dragon remains the eternal engine that makes the impossible possible."

Executive Summary (2025 Meta)

In the 2025 competitive landscape, Firewall has matured from a simple combo engine into a robust "Tower" strategy. It serves as the unifying framework for the "Cyberse Pile," binding together sub-archetypes like Mathmech, Code Talker, Salamangreat, and the emerging Maliss (M∀LICE) into a Tier 1.5 contender.

The deck leverages the "Link Climbing" mechanic to convert minimal resources into oppressive boards featuring high-Link bosses like Firewall Dragon Singularity and Neo Tempest Terahertz, establishing double-digit interruptions while maintaining high resource efficiency through recursive loops.

Core Main Deck Engine

Firewall Defenser

The premier one-card starter. Crucially, it Chain Blocks for your Link-1 summons (like Balelynx), insulating your search effects from Ash Blossom. It also provides GY protection against destruction effects.

Firewall Phantom

The resource architect. Searches Cynet Codec or Cynet Conflict when linked off. Its discard cost is often a benefit, sending "Garnets" like Dotscaper or Mathmech Sigma to the GY to be revived later.

Firewall Guardian

The recursive bridge. When sent to the GY for a Cyberse Link, it revives itself. This immediately provides a Link-2 and a body for a Link-3, effectively printing Link Rating for free.

Neo Tempest Terahertz

LINK-5 | DARK | CYBERSE

The "Swiss Army Knife" of the deck.

  • The Mill Effect: Dumps Cyberse Desavewurm (S/T negate) or Mereologic Aggregator (Face-up negate).
  • OTK Potential: Dumps Mathmech Multiplication to hit 11,000 ATK.
  • Battle Phase Lock: Negates all opponent monster effects during Battle Phase (Hard counter to Tenpai Dragon).
Firewall Dragon Singularity

Firewall Dragon Singularity

LINK-6 | DARK | CYBERSE

The Apex Predator.

  • Non-Targeting Bounce: Returns cards to hand based on card types in GY (Fusion, Synchro, Xyz).
  • The "Sticky" Loop: If a co-linked monster (like Terahertz) leaves the field, Singularity revives a Cyberse immediately.

Strategic Analysis (2025)

Meta Matchups

  • vs. Tenpai Dragon: Terahertz is the MVP. Its Battle Phase negation completely shuts off their engine.
  • vs. Snake-Eye/Fire King: Singularity's non-targeting bounce disrupts Field Spells and Continuous Spells crucial to their loops.
  • vs. Voiceless Voice: Mathmech Superfactorial removes Ritual monsters without targeting, bypassing Sauravis protection.

Critical Weaknesses

  • Turn-Enders: Dimension Shifter and Droll & Lock Bird are catastrophic. The deck must run "Called By" and "Crossout Designator" at max copies.
  • Knowledge Check: The end board is complex; if the opponent baits Singularity early, the defense can crumble.

The Cyberse Pile

  • Maliss (M∀LICE): Emerging 2025 engine. Banishes cards for cost, playing around GY hate like Shifter and fueling Singularity.
  • Mathmech: Provides Circular (best extender) and Superfactorial (hand/field/GY rip).
  • G Golem: Crystal Heart enables OTKs by reviving Transcode Talker with piercing.
