The Paradigm Shift

The release of Phantom Revengers introduces a strategy defined by Resource Appropriation. Known in the OCG as Hecatoncheire (after the hundred-handed giants), the deck leverages the battle immunity of the Illusion type to grind games to a halt.

Rather than simply negating effects, Hecahands actively steal cards from the opponent's Hand, Deck, GY, and Extra Deck to use as Fusion Material. They operate on a principle of "Perfect Information—knowing the opponent's hand via Breus, their deck via Gygas, and their Extra Deck via Xeno.

Mandatory Synergies

Hybrid Theory

Pure Hecahands works, but hybrid builds raise the ceiling.

  • Chimera: Nightmare Apprentice bridges the decks. Chimera allows hand-ripping in End Phase.
  • Fiendsmith: Fiendsmith Engraver provides Link climbing capabilities to insulate plays from hand traps.
  • Spirit Sculptor: A tech choice for pure builds. Tributes itself to search Ibel (1600/2100) based on combined stats.

Matchup Analysis

Vs. Snake-Eye / Fire King

Advantage: Hecahands. Goddus is MVP here.

  • Stealing Promethean Princess from GY shuts down recursion.
  • Ipt stealing Snake-Eye Ash gives you a starter.

Vs. Tenpai Dragon

Advantage: Even/Slight Disadvantage.

  • Illusion battle immunity can backfire if Tenpai wants to battle.
  • Must use Xeno to rip Synchros from Extra Deck before Battle Phase.

Vs. Enneacraft (Flip)

Advantage: Disadvantage.

  • Face-down monsters cannot be targeted by Gygas/Jawza theft mechanics.
  • Rely on Tartarus to bounce sets.
