Analysis of a High-Velocity Synchro Engine
The "Synchron" archetype is a renowned Synchro-based strategy, famous for its high-velocity,
"Synchro climbing"
combo lines. Evolving from a fragile Normal Summon-reliant build, the modern engine is a robust, multi-faceted system that leverages the hand, Graveyard, and Deck to establish overwhelming endboards. Its identity is defined by the lynchpin card Junk Speeder, which explodes onto the field to generate a critical mass of Tuners.
Recent "Power of Fellows" support has fundamentally reshaped the deck, solving its decades-old weaknesses. New cards like "Synchro Fellowship" fix "bricky" hands and provide recovery, while the "Scrap" package (Scrap Synchron & Scrap Warrior) provides a new combo line that *enables* the "Junk Speeder" chain block, making it safe from "Ash Blossom" and other negation.
The classic Normal Summon starter. Revives a Level 2 or lower monster to immediately make "Junk Speeder".
A new utility Tuner. Can be used as Synchro Material from the hand and banishes from GY to protect "Warrior" Synchros from destruction.
A new non-Tuner searcher. On summon, adds "Junk Synchron" or a Spell/Trap mentioning "Junk Warrior". A prime discard target for "Junk Converter".
A modern starter and extender. Summons itself from hand/GY and searches "Stardust" Spells/Traps.
Key extenders that Special Summon themselves from the hand (Assault) or GY (Jet), enabling combos before the Normal Summon.
The new heart of the deck. Adds "Junk Synchron" & another piece, then discards 1 to fix "bricky" hands. Its GY effect (banish, target Synchro, reduce Level, gain Normal Summon) is the deck's new resource-less "Plan B" if "Junk Speeder" is negated.
A critical consistency tool. Discard itself and a Tuner to search any "Synchron" monster, loading the GY in the process. Its GY effect is key for chain-blocking.
The signature search Spell. Adds any "Synchron" Tuner and mills one card, which can be a huge benefit for GY setup.
Value has skyrocketed. It's no longer just a "Junk Synchron" searcher; it's the primary enabler for the "Ash-Proof" combo by summoning Scrap Synchron from the Deck (by revealing "Scrap Warrior").
The new support provides two distinct and powerful lines: a hyper-consistent 1.5-card starter, and a more complex but fully-protected "Ash-Proof" combo.
Start Hand: "Synchro Fellowship" + 1 discard fodder (e.g., "Junk Converter" or a "garnet" like "Jet Synchron").
Activate Synchro Fellowship. Add Junk Synchron and Junk Converter from Deck to hand. Then, discard the Junk Converter to set up the GY. This also readies "Fellowship's" GY effect for a "Plan B".
Normal Summon Junk Synchron (revives "Converter"). Synchro into Junk Speeder. Build Chain: CL1: Speeder (on-summon), CL2: Converter (GY effect). This "Chain Block" protects Speeder's effect from "Ash Blossom".
"Junk Speeder" resolves, summoning a board full of Tuners. From here, you proceed with the standard Synchro climb into T.G. Hyper Librarian, Junk Warrior, and Crystal Wing to build your endboard.
Start Hand: "Synchro Overtake" + "Junk Synchron" + Level 2 Extender (e.g., "Assault Synchron").
Activate Synchro Overtake, revealing Scrap Warrior from your Extra Deck. Special Summon Scrap Synchron (Lvl 1 Tuner) from your Deck.
Special Summon your Lvl 2 Extender (e.g., Assault Synchron). Synchro Summon Scrap Warrior (Lvl 3) using Scrap Synchron + Assault Synchron.
CRITICAL: "Scrap Warrior's" on-summon effect will now trigger, which is the entire point of this line.
"Scrap Warrior's" on-summon effect triggers: send Junk Converter from Deck to GY.
Normal Summon Junk Synchron, reviving Junk Converter.
Synchro Summon Junk Speeder.
Result: You can now perform the standard "Ash-Proof" chain block. Build Chain: CL1: Speeder (on-summon), CL2: Converter (GY effect).
Combo Strength: Using "Scrap Warrior" as a tool to send "Junk Converter" from Deck to GY, *enabling* the chain block without needing to draw "Converter".
Important Note: "Scrap Warrior's" continuous effect does not protect "Junk Speeder", as "Speeder" does not have "Warrior" in its name.
The new support creates a strategic choice. Scrap Synchron and Scrap Warrior only protect "Warrior" Synchros (those with "Warrior" in their original name). This makes "Junk Warrior" and other "Warrior" bosses safer than ever. However, powerful "Dragon" bosses like "Crystal Wing" and "Cosmic Blazar Dragon" are left unprotected, forcing the player to choose between raw power and built-in resilience.
Do not play "Junk Warrior Extreme" in this deck. Its effect (reviving Lvl 2s) imposes a lock: "...you can only Special Summon one more time for the rest of this turn." This KILLS YOUR COMBO. It is a boss monster for a different, casual OTK build and actively conflicts with the "Synchro climbing" strategy.
While the Synchron core remains untouched, the archetype's moderate reliance on generic Synchro monsters means restrictions on generic support cards do have an impact.
Meta Implications: Despite restrictions on support cards, Synchron's highly resilient in-archetype combo lines allows the deck to remain viable with alternative tech choices.
