NEXUS

Executive Summary: Unsealing the Tomb

The "Temple of the Kings" archetype is the modern incarnation of Odion's anime strategy, transformed from a fragile gimmick into a cohesive, Trap Monster-focused control deck. The core game plan is to establish control by leveraging a robust search engine to place Treasures of the Kings on the field. From there, the deck summons a suite of "Apophis" Trap Monsters to build board presence and disrupt the opponent. Through intricate resource loops, layered protection, and access to powerful Fusion Monsters, the deck aims to out-value the opponent, all thanks to a vast network of internal consistency.

The Keepers & The Armory

The Keepers: Core Monsters

The Man with the Mark

The primary starter. On summon, it searches any "Temple" card or Spell/Trap that mentions it, and provides battle/effect protection for your field.

Anubis the Last Judge

The boss monster. Can be sent from hand to GY to search "The Man with the Mark," and recycles Traps from the GY to summon itself.

Merciless Scorpion of Serket

A key extender. Special Summons itself by banishing a Level 10+ monster (like The Winged Dragon of Ra) from your Deck and searches a "Temple" Spell.

The Armory: Core Spells & Traps

Treasures of the Kings

The lynchpin Field Spell. It's treated as "Temple of the Kings," Sets an "Apophis" trap from Deck, and searches a "Temple" monster once per turn.

Apophis the Swamp Deity

A Trap Monster that provides on-field monster effect negation based on the number of other Continuous Traps you control.

Verdict of Anubis

A devastating Counter Trap. If you control 3+ other Spells/Traps, it negates a Spell/Trap, destroys it, and then destroys all opponent's monsters.

Executing the Royal Will

This fundamental combo establishes a solid turn-one board, protection, and follow-up from a single card.

Competitive Analysis

Strengths

  • High Consistency: Nearly every card searches another piece of the engine, leading to reliable opening plays.
  • Powerful Grind Game: The "Apophis" and "Divine Serpent" loop can out-value opponents in long duels.
  • Resilient Board: "The Man with the Mark" provides strong, built-in protection against destruction effects.
  • "Blowout" Cards: Access to Verdict of Anubis can win the game on its own.

Weaknesses

  • Backrow Hate: Extremely vulnerable to cards like Royal Decree, Jinzo, or a (Forbidden) Red Reboot.
  • Normal Summon Reliant: The entire combo line relies on resolving the Normal Summon of The Man with the Mark.
  • Choke Points: Susceptible to common hand traps like Effect Veiler and Infinite Impermanence on the starter.

Alliances of the Kingdom

  • The Winged Dragon of Ra: The deck is mechanically designed to support it, using Merciless Scorpion to banish Ra and Defense of the Temple to search its summoning card.
  • Lord of the Heavenly Prison: Protects your Set cards and searches any Spell/Trap from the Deck.
  • Consistency Spells: (Limited) Pot of Prosperity and (Semi-Limited) Pot of Extravagance help find your starters.

Current TCG Banlist Status

UNRESTRICTED STATUS: The core "Temple of the Kings" archetype is at full power. Restrictions only apply to its generic support cards.

Unrestricted (Archetype)

  • All "Temple of the Kings" monsters (3 copies)
  • All "Apophis" Trap Monsters (3 copies)
  • All "Serket" monsters (3 copies)
  • Treasures of the Kings, Defense of the Temple, etc. (3 copies)

Limited & Semi-Limited (Tech)

  • Terraforming (Limited: 1)
  • Pot of Prosperity (Limited: 1)
  • Solemn Judgment (Limited: 1)
  • Pot of Extravagance (Semi-Limited: 2)

Meta Implications: With its entire core engine untouched, the deck functions exactly as designed. Its consistency relies on navigating the limited status of generic searchers like "Terraforming" and "Prosperity," but the archetype itself is at full, unrestricted strength.

The Pharaoh's Blueprint: Search Network

The archetype's high consistency comes from its interconnected search paths, allowing nearly any card to lead to another.
