Analysis of a Link Combo Archetype
The World Chalice archetype is a combo-intensive strategy that defined the early Link Summoning era. It uniquely weaponizes Normal Monsters, transforming them into catalysts for explosive "Link climbing" sequences. The deck's philosophy is to generate overwhelming board presence from a single monster, using a network of interconnected "floating" effects to maintain card advantage and build towards powerful, multi-negation end boards. While incredibly potent, its power has been curtailed by the banlist, making its most dominant historical strategies no longer viable in the current TCG.
Beckoned, Chosen, and Crowned by the World Chalice. These are the sparks that ignite the entire engine, used to summon the first Link monster.
The primary searcher. On summon, she adds any "World Chalice" monster from Deck to hand, ensuring combo consistency.
The main extender. When this Normal Summoned monster leaves the field, it floods the board by summoning two "World Chalice" monsters from the Deck.
The foundational Link-1. Grants an extra Normal Summon to enable the Tribute of World Legacy - "World Chalice".
The in-archetype boss. Provides card draw and powerful, non-targeting, non-destruction removal.
The most powerful consistency tool. This Synchro monster searches any "World Legacy" card, but is now FORBIDDEN.
The deck's fundamental combo demonstrates how these chosen heroes work in concert to turn two cards into a formidable board presence, showcasing the Link climbing and floating mechanics.
Normal Summon a Normal Monster (e.g., Chosen by the World Chalice). Link it away for Imduk the World Chalice Dragon. Imduk's effect grants an additional Normal Summon.
Tribute Imduk to Normal Summon World Legacy - "World Chalice". As Imduk is sent to GY, its effect summons a monster from hand. As "World Chalice" leaves the field (by being tributed), it summons two more monsters from the Deck.
One of the summoned monsters is Lee the World Chalice Fairy, whose effect triggers to search for another "World Chalice" monster, refueling your hand and setting up the next stage of Link Summons.
The ultimate goal of the World Chalice combo is to construct a near-unbreakable board of co-linked monsters providing multiple layers of disruption. The most potent versions of this end board relied on cards that are now FORBIDDEN, making this setup a relic of the deck's former power.
The World Chalice archetype itself is largely untouched by the TCG banlist, but key synergistic cards it relies on are affected.
