"The Dragunity knights ride their dragon steeds into battle with a bond forged through the Equip mechanic. Tuner dragons mount themselves onto Winged Beast warriors as living weapons, creating Synchro formations of breathtaking speed. Their aerial cavalry charges are legendary—a blur of wings, scales, and gleaming lances descending from the clouds."

Worm Apocalypse
I · The Worms
  1. For ages the continent's tribes had fought one another for land and power. Then the Worms crashed down on meteorites: invaders from outer space that mutate to fit any world, multiply, and consume it.
  2. Each tribe fought back in its own way. The Ice Barrier freed Brionac, one of its sealed ice dragons, while the X-Sabers, Mist Valley and Flamvell sent their strongest. Every attack only pushed the Worms to evolve.
  3. As whole tribes died out, the four strongest, the Flamvell, the Ice Barrier, the X-Sabers and Mist Valley, joined forces as the Ally of Justice to build anti-Worm weapons. Catastor, made by all four together, won ground on every front.
  4. The Allies also found the Genex, silent machines that seemed to improve the land around them. Seeing the Worms as polluters, the Genex set about wiping them out, and the Allies began studying what they were.
  5. The surviving Worms kept evolving, until clever Worm Nobles took command of the rest. Worn down, the X-Sabers' leader Gottoms chose a new generation, the XX-Sabers, fitted with the Allies' machinery.
  6. The Worms reached even the forest of the peaceful Naturia. They hated fighting, but not one of them stepped back from the invaders fouling their home.
  7. From the Worms' meteorites the Allies built the Ally Mind, began capturing Worms, and made captured Genex run their weapons. Mist Valley disliked using the voiceless Genex, and the Fabled secretly fed that doubt until they left the alliance.
  8. Woken by the chaos on the surface, or perhaps by the Allies' experiments with other dimensions, the Fabled rose from deep below: evil gods true only to their own desires, who joined fights only when it amused them.
  9. The Fabled fell on the nest of the Jurrac, where Worms rarely came. The proud Jurrac refused to be prey and burned the hunters with the flames that clothed their bodies. Meanwhile the Allies fitted some Genex with fusion reactors, making the R-Genex.
  10. With Worms marching day and night and the Fabled striking where they pleased, the Ice Barrier freed its second dragon, Gungnir. Its breath turned invaders and gods alike into ice.
  11. Alone since leaving the Allies, Mist Valley was close to defeat when its strongest weapon, the Mist Wurm, fell. Then the legendary Dragunity rode in from Dragon Ravine: knights who become one with their dragons in body and soul.
  12. As Worm attacks grew strangely rare, the Allies built their ultimate weapon. Then space tore open and Worm Zero emerged, devouring its own kind. The floating fortress Decisive Armor met it, both struck at once, and the Worms were wiped out.
  13. In the brief peace, the Fabled moved to conquer the surface, led by the beasts called The Fabled. Mist Valley agreed to help the Allies again, and together they built the Genex Allies from repaired Genex and R-Genex reactors, one model for each tribe.
  14. Their flames halved, the last Jurrac became one blazing meteor and fell on their own nest, burning the Fabled there to ash. From the ashes rose the Neo Flamvell, and their wishes woke the Ancient Flamvell Deity, which burned away the Fabled left in the nest.
  15. The other Fabled only fought harder, and the exhausted land was laid waste. Divided, the Ice Barrier broke the seal of its third dragon. Trishula destroyed every Fabled on the planet, but it would not obey, and all three dragons rampaged together.
  16. Not even the Tiger King Dewloren could stop them. The Sacred Spirit, which had watched over the Ice Barrier since its founding, gave up its own being to seal all three dragons at once.

Side story: dragons against the ice dragons

The Valuable Book EX (2021) tells how the Dragunity helped seal the three ice dragons, and how their power returned later.

The rampaging ice dragons sent a cold wave even into Dragon Ravine, warm all year round. Sensing their influence, the commander Dux used the secret techniques handed down in the valley to call forth Ascalon, the amalgam of eight dragons, and the equally mighty giant dragon Areadbhair. Dux piloted Ascalon himself and made Legatus Areadbhair's rider, and as the legend of the two dragons told, they descended to the battle to seal the three.

Trishula took its ultimate form and drove the Dragunity into a corner, but the badly wounded Areadbhair unleashed the flames of the Void and drastically weakened the three dragons. Thanks to those flames, the sealing succeeded (Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier, Dragunity Oubliette).

The flames of the Void left inside the three dragons were later turned to evil and became a new threat, when Infernoid Devyaty absorbed the dragons' power and became El Shaddoll Anoyatyllis. But Exa, who had once watched the Dragunity defeat the three dragons, called forth the Dragunity Divine Lance so that Shurit could wield Areadbhair's power again (Nekroz of Areadbhair).

Side story: the founder returns

The Valuable Book EX 6 (2026): when the founder of Dragon Mastery raised his spear again, a new legend was written in Dragunity history.

Dragunity Quirinus was none other than Dragunity Knight - Romulus, the founder of the Dragunity, who handed down the secret technique of Dragon Mastery. He had left on a wandering journey to investigate the incidents repeating in the Mist Valley, but sensing Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth reviving through the Divine Wind gathering at the Shrine, he returned to the Dragon Ravine and joined the fight again with the spear his comrades had kept for him.

Answering the call of Constellar Rasalhague, Quirinus rode out with his partner Dragunity Remus, followed by three dragons: Ascalon, partner of one of his old comrades; Gram, the strongest dragon warrior; and Areadbhair, with the flames of the Void. Birds and dragons as one: a new legend, Dragunity Knight - Areus, was about to be born.

Maddened by the goddess's revival, Evilswarm Bahamut laid waste to the Mist Valley. Areus drew it into the Dragon Ravine, where they had the advantage, and with the Divine Wind behind them struck the finishing blow (Dragunity Divine Wind).

Meanwhile Rasalhague and the others were sealing Evilswarm Ouroboros. As Rasalhague struggled against the most dreadful dragon, Gishki Ariel used the Aquamirror in a desperate ritual that created Evigishki Neremanas, and with the power of the Tiger King, Dewloren, the sealing succeeded (Focused Aquamirror).

Executive Summary

The Dragunity archetype is defined by its unique symbiotic relationship between Winged Beast "riders" and Dragon "steeds." This core mechanic, where riders equip Dragon Tuners from the hand, Deck, or Graveyard, has evolved from a mid-range strategy into an explosive, hyper-combo deck. Modern support, centered around the Field Spell Dragon Ravine, allows the deck to consistently "Synchro Climb" into multiple high-impact boss monsters, establishing formidable end boards in a single turn.

The Core Engine: Ravine, Riders, and Steeds

The deck's power is built upon a tight-knit group of starters and extenders that search, special summon, and recycle each other with incredible efficiency.

Starters

Dragunity Remus: The ultimate starter. Discards itself to search for Dragon Ravine, and can revive itself from the Graveyard.

Dragon Ravine: The deck's heart. Discards a card to either search a Dragunity monster or send a Dragon from deck to Graveyard.

Riders

Dragunity Legatus: A free Special Summon while you control a Dragunity card, providing instant Synchro material.

Dragunity Dux/Senatus: Key Normal Summons that equip Dragon Tuners from the Graveyard (Dux) or Deck (Senatus).

Steeds

Dragunity Phalanx: The classic Level 2 Tuner. Special Summons itself from the Spell/Trap Zone when equipped.

Dragunity Couse: A more flexible Level 2 Tuner that can also modulate its Level, enabling precise Synchro plays.

Core Combo: The 1-Card Remus Line

Currently Banned in the Trading Card Game

Borreload Savage Dragon is currently banned in the Trading Card Game. Modern builds use alternatives like Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon or Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.

  • Omni-Negate: Provides multiple negations for any card effect by equipping a Link monster from the Graveyard.
  • ATK Boost: Gains significant ATK, making it a powerful offensive and defensive tool.

Dragunity Knight - Areadbhair

Dragunity Knight - Areadbhair

Competitive Analysis

Strengths

  • Hyper Consistency: Access to Dragon Ravine via Remus makes the core combo incredibly reliable.
  • High Ceiling: Capable of producing end boards with multiple layers of interaction and negation.
  • Resilience: The revival effect of Remus and Graveyard effects of spells provide ways to play through single disruptions.

Weaknesses

  • Choke Points: Highly vulnerable to hand traps that negate the initial search for Ravine or the Normal Summon's equip effect.
  • Nibiru Vulnerability: The long combo chains easily summon more than five monsters, making the deck a prime target for Nibiru.
  • Dragon Lock: The Remus line locks you into Dragon Extra Deck monsters, restricting access to generic power cards like Baronne de Fleur.

Hybrids & Engines

  • Bystial Engine: Synergizes perfectly by providing free Level 6 Dragon extenders, enabling access to powerful Synchros like Bystial Dis Pater.
  • Dragon Link Staples: Easily incorporates generic Dragon support like Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres to extend combos.

Banlist Impact

The Dragunity archetype itself is largely untouched by the TCG banlist, but key synergistic cards it relies on are affected.
