A Classic Rank 4 Thunder Engine
The "Hunder Family" is not a formal archetype but a synergistic engine of Level 4 LIGHT Thunder monsters. Its strategic function is to leverage a unique mechanic'?stacking additional Normal Summons'?to generate card advantage and rapidly deploy multiple monsters. This board presence is then immediately converted into powerful Rank 4 Xyz Summons, making the Hunder engine a delivery system for the versatile threats residing in the Extra Deck toolbox.
Achieved through powerful searchers. Thunder Sea Horse searches two core monsters, while Brohunder converts a Normal Summon into a combo piece from the deck.
Mahunder and Pahunder provide additional Normal Summons, allowing the player to chain summons together and swarm the field for an Xyz play in a single turn.
The deck aims to maintain hand size. Sishunder and Recycling Batteries recover key monsters from the Graveyard, establishing resource loops for a longer game.
The premier engine starter. Discard it to add 2 Level 4 LIGHT Thunder monsters with 1600 or less ATK from Deck to hand. This is a crucial setup play but prevents you from Special Summoning that turn.
One of the "Hunder Parents." Once per turn, allows an additional Normal Summon of a Level 4 LIGHT Thunder monster. This effect is an Ignition Effect, allowing it to be "stacked" with Pahunder.
Functionally identical to Mahunder, acting as the second "Hunder Parent." Having both in hand allows for an instant Rank 4 Xyz Summon by Normal Summoning one, then using its effect to Normal Summon the other.
The on-field searcher. When Normal Summoned, it adds 1 Level 4 LIGHT Thunder monster from your Deck to your hand, typically grabbing Mahunder or Pahunder to extend your plays.
The key recycler. When Normal Summoned, it banishes a target from the GY, which then returns to your hand during the End Phase. This is used to loop Thunder Sea Horse.
A simple Normal Spell that provides a direct +1 in card advantage by adding 2 Thunder monsters with 1500 or less ATK from your GY to your hand, refueling your engine for another push.
This is the deck's primary aggressive line, converting two "Hunder Parents" in hand into an immediate Rank 4 Xyz monster.
Perform your standard Normal Summon for the turn, summoning Pahunder (or Mahunder) from your hand.
Activate the Ignition Effect of the on-field Pahunder. This allows you to immediately perform an additional Normal Summon, playing Mahunder from your hand.
With two Level 4 monsters on the field, overlay both to Xyz Summon your Rank 4 monster of choice, such as Bagooska for control or Utopia the Lightning for offense.
The Hunder engine's end board is not a fixed field but rather a versatile set of options from the generic Rank 4 Xyz pool, chosen to counter the opponent's strategy.
A premier Turn 1 play. Forces all monsters into Defense Position and negates their activated effects.
A Quick Effect that prevents the opponent from activating any card effects in their Graveyard for the turn.
The primary game-finisher. Attacks with 5000 ATK and prevents the opponent from responding during the battle.
The ultimate problem-solver. Detaches 2 materials to shuffle any face-up card on the field back into the Deck.
The hunder archetype itself is largely untouched by the TCG banlist, but key synergistic cards it relies on are affected.
