"Yuya Sakaki's Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is the pioneer of Entertainment Dueling, its heterochromatic gaze reflecting the dual nature of Pendulum Summoning. When it battles a monster, it deals double the damage—a philosophy of spectacular, overwhelming offense. Its evolved forms span every summoning mechanic, making Odd-Eyes the most versatile dragon lineage in the game."
Yuya Sakaki's Odd-Eyes dragons from Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V: the pendant that made Pendulum Dragon, the merges with Yuto, Yugo and Yuri, and the manga's own line. Follow a marked name to walk the trail.
Yuya's first card. In ARC-V episode 1 it reacted with his pendant and became Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. In the anime its roar matched Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon's.
Yuya's signature card: its eye colours are his hair colours, and it carries Z-ARC's love of entertaining. Of the four dimension dragons it is the only one without wings, and the only one in the Main Deck.
Yuya's dragon in the ARC-V manga, named after his alias there, "Phantom". Its body is blue where Pendulum Dragon's is red, the two sides of a Pendulum Scale, and it has features of all four dimension dragons, as Yuya shares his body with his counterparts.
Red. With blue Phantom and green Mirage, the three manga dragons are the primary colours of light. Its stats and Scale match Stargazer Magician, and its tail is Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon's.
Green, with Dark Rebellion's head and the stats of Timegazer Magician. With Persona, it was Yuya's first Pendulum pair.
The anime's Pendulum portal opens behind it, and its jewel and spines are Yuya's pendant. Its flavor text echoes his Japanese chant: "Swing, my soul's pendulum! Draw an arc of light in the sky!" The first Odd-Eyes Normal Monster.
Yuya and Yuto merged. Its Japanese title, "Supreme King Black Dragon", is the black frame of Xyz cards, and in the anime a silhouette of Dark Rebellion sometimes appeared when it struck: Yuto stirring inside Yuya.
The spirit of Z-ARC waking in Yuya and Yuto. Its look and Rank 7 come from the Devil, a red dragon with seven crowns; in Japanese, Z-ARC was the "Devil Duelist".
With Starving Venom Fusion Dragon: "Supreme King Violet Dragon", the purple of Fusion frames. Sora and Alexis saw it as Starving Venom purified, and it was the last Fusion Summoned in ARC-V.
With Clear Wing Synchro Dragon: "Supreme King White Dragon", the white of Synchro frames, and the last Synchro Summoned in ARC-V.
Odd-Eyes Dragon as a FIRE Synchro, a golden flame by its right eye. Its opposite is Absolute Dragon, in a mirrored pose.
WATER Xyz, named after absolute zero, an icicle by its left eye: Meteorburst's opposite. Vortex (WIND Fusion) and Gravity (EARTH Ritual) are the other opposed pair.
From Legendary Arc-V Decks, August 2026: the first Odd-Eyes Link, LIGHT and silver, the opposite of DARK Pendulum Dragon, whose second artwork it mirrors. Only these two keep Odd-Eyes Dragon's forehead crystal and horns on both sides.
Armored like the altar of Odd-Eyes Advent, with the blade and staff of Timegazer and Stargazer. The first Ritual Pendulum Monster.
The ARC-V manga's answer to Supreme King Z-ARC: all four dragons combined, LIGHT where Z-ARC is DARK. The rings on its back and the orbs on its horns are the other three dragons' colours.
The 2026 support wave did not end with the Legendary ARC-V Decks box. A second, larger wave retrained all four ARC-V Dimension Dragons at once, and the one that matters most to this deck sits in the Main Deck: Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons. It turns the archetype's original ace from an End Phase searcher into a Main Phase engine piece and a real win condition — at the cost of the most awkward restriction the deck has ever had to sequence around.
In the Pendulum Zone it destroys itself during your Main Phase to add any Pendulum monster with 1500 or less ATK from the Deck to your hand. The original card made you wait until the End Phase, which meant the search only ever paid off next turn.
Pendulum Summoned, it gains 300 ATK for every point of gap between your two active scales, and any battle damage the opponent takes from a battle involving it is doubled.
Destroyed in the Monster Zone by battle or by a card effect, it returns to your hand. If the opponent destroyed it, you may Special Summon it back instead of holding it.
Once the search resolves you cannot activate monster effects on the field for the rest of the turn, unless you Pendulum Summon afterwards. Both of its effects are hard once per turn.
Pendulum Effect During your Main Phase: You can destroy this card, and if you do, add 1 Pendulum Monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck to your hand, also for the rest of this turn, unless you Pendulum Summon after this effect resolves, you cannot activate monster effects on the field. You can only use this effect of "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons" once per turn.
Monster Effect
This Pendulum Summoned card gains these effects.
● Gains ATK equal to the difference between the Pendulum Scales of the 2 cards in your
Pendulum Zones x 300.
● Any battle damage your opponent takes from battles involving this card is doubled.
If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can add this card to
your hand, then if it was destroyed by your opponent, you can Special Summon it. You can only use
this effect of "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons" once per turn.
End Phase became Main Phase. The scale pop is now the first action of a combo instead of a consolation prize after it, and it is a clean plus one.
Popping itself sends a face-up DARK Dragon Pendulum to the Extra Deck, which the new Astrograph retrain can shuffle away on the opponent's turn to Fusion Summon.
Extreme scales plus doubled battle damage means the same 2500 body that was a joke for a decade now closes out a turn three by itself.
No on-field monster effects until you Pendulum Summon. That is a genuine cost, and it collides head-on with Beyond the Pendulum.
Both bullet points fire on the same body, so the ATK gain and the damage doubling multiply each other. The scale gap is entirely under your control, and this deck has access to the widest gaps in the game.
| Pendulum Zones | Gap | Its ATK | Damage through a 2000 ATK monster |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supreme King Gate Infinity (13) / Supreme King Gate Zero (0) | 13 | 6400 | 8800 — but Gate Infinity blocks Pendulum Summoning while you control a monster, so this only works from an empty Monster Zone |
| Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon (12) / Supreme King Gate Zero (0) | 12 | 6100 | 8200 — the realistic ceiling, and Revolution Dragon's Dragon-only Pendulum Summon clause allows it |
| Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon (8) / Supreme King Gate Zero (0) | 8 | 4900 | 5800 |
| Supreme King Dragon Lightwurm (8) / Astrograph Sorcerer, the Starfrost Magician (1) | 7 | 4600 | 5200 |
| A second copy of itself (4) / Supreme King Gate Zero (0) | 4 | 3700 | 3400 |
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons and Beyond the Pendulum both shut you down until you Pendulum Summon, and you normally get one Pendulum Summon per turn. Resolve both searches in one turn and one of the two locks never lifts.
They are not the same lock, and the difference decides the order. Four Heavenly Dragons stops monster effects on the field. Beyond the Pendulum stops monster effects full stop, with no "on the field" qualifier, and negates the effects of both cards in your Pendulum Zones. Under Beyond's lock you cannot even pop a scale, so Beyond has to go first and its Pendulum Summon has to land before you touch Four Heavenly Dragons.
That is exactly the hole Odd-Eyes Override Dragon fills. Destroying a Pendulum Monster Card with its first effect grants a second Pendulum Summon, which is the only reason both searches fit in the same turn. The order below is not optional.
Build three Pendulum bodies with your Spell and Trap engine, then Link Summon Beyond the Pendulum in the Extra Monster Zone and pay 1200 Life Points to search. Lock one is on, and your scales are now negated too.
Pendulum Summon immediately. This is your normal Pendulum Summon, and it lifts both halves of Beyond the Pendulum's restriction, including the scale negation.
Link Summon Odd-Eyes Override Dragon using Beyond the Pendulum and a freshly summoned Pendulum monster. Its own-turn negate is now live.
Use Override Dragon to destroy a face-up Pendulum Monster Card: draw one, and bank a second Pendulum Summon.
Only now place Four Heavenly Dragons in the scale and pop it for the search. Lock two goes on, and your field effects are already spent.
Spend the second Pendulum Summon to clear lock two and put the endboard down, with Four Heavenly Dragons itself as one of the summoned bodies.
Every one of these is a Monster Zone effect, so each one has to happen before the pop or wait until after the Pendulum Summon.
Its Normal Summon search is the deck's most common opener and it is a field effect.
Normal Summon and search before you touch the scale. Its on-Special-Summon search for a card that mentions Supreme King Z-ARC is a field effect, so the lock stalls the entire Z-ARC line. It also needs another Supreme King Gate card already in your Pendulum Zone to summon itself in the first place.
This is the one that hurts most. Resolve it first. The Supreme King Dragon field triggers that fetch Gates and recover Extra Deck cards both go offline.
Chain them out early or lose the value entirely. Its own lock is the harsher of the two: every monster effect, not just the field, plus your Pendulum Zone effects are negated. Two locks, one Pendulum Summon, unless Override Dragon gives you a second.
Beyond first, always, and Pendulum Summon before you touch a scale.Where it is legal, its send, its pop and its draw-when-a-scale-leaves trigger are all field effects and all die under the lock. That last one matters: pop the scale yourself and the lock lands before the draw can be activated.
Let Electrumite destroy Four Heavenly Dragons instead. You keep the draw and the Extra Deck add, and no lock is applied at all.Spells and Traps are not monster effects, so the whole Primite package and the Supreme King search spells work through the lock unchanged.
Build the board with Spells, spend the field effects last. The ceiling looks restrictive and is not. Almost every scale this deck actually wants sits comfortably under 1500 ATK, so the search is effectively "any scale you are missing".
| Target | Scale / ATK | Why you take it |
|---|---|---|
| Performapal Monkeyboard | Scale 1 · 1000 | Its search is a Pendulum Zone effect, so it fires straight through the lock. Watch the fine print: without another Performapal card in your other Pendulum Zone its Scale becomes 4, which collapses the gap in a Supreme King shell. |
| Supreme King Gate Zero | Scale 0 · 0 | The bottom half of the extreme-scale pair that powers the ATK math, and the standard partner for a Level 7 Pendulum Summon. |
| Supreme King Dragon Lightwurm | Scale 8 · 1200 | A Pendulum Tuner and the top half of a wide gap. Its Extra Deck recovery is a Monster Zone effect and dies to the lock, but its other effect returns it from the face-up Extra Deck when your Pendulum monsters get destroyed, which the pop-your-own -scale plan feeds for free. |
| Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer | Scale 2 · 1500 | Sits exactly on the ceiling. Its self-destroy fetches two more Performapals, but that is a field effect, so it has to wait for the Pendulum Summon. |
| Purple Poison Magician | Scale 1 · 1200 | A low scale with on-destruction removal attached, useful when the pop-your-own-scale plan is already running. |
Soul of the Supreme King was a meme for years. Pay half your Life Points for a Z-ARC with its effects negated, then later banish both from the graveyard to Special Summon one each of your "Pendulum Dragon", "Xyz Dragon", "Synchro Dragon" and "Fusion Dragon" monsters. The original four Dimension Dragons did almost nothing on arrival, so it was four Extra Deck slots for no interaction. The retrains fix that at the root: their disruption triggers on being Special Summoned, not on being properly Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Summoned, and each carries the exact name that clause is looking for.
2 DARK monsters on the field, so it can be made off the opponent's board once the first effect has recoloured something.
Target another face-up monster: its ATK becomes 0, its effects are negated, and its Attribute becomes DARK.
When the opponent activates a card or effect, Fusion Summon a DARK Fusion Monster using DARK monsters on either field, including itself. The Attribute change from the first effect is what makes the opponent's monster legal material.
Destroy one Effect Monster the opponent controls and gain ATK equal to its original ATK.
Special Summon a Level 4 or lower WIND Tuner from the hand or graveyard with its effects negated, then immediately Synchro Summon a WIND Synchro Monster.
Target an equal number of cards on each field and destroy them. Cheated out from an empty board of your own, that is a symmetrical trade you choose the size of.
Detach one material to Special Summon a Rank 4 DARK Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck using itself as material, treated as an Xyz Summon. Every Rank 4 DARK Xyz in the game is a legal follow-up.
The two Trap cards are easy to confuse and do opposite things with the same four dragons. One banishes them to switch a Z-ARC on. The other summons them for three triggers. Both start from Supreme King Gate Magician, which needs another Supreme King Gate card in your Pendulum Zone, sends a "Pendulum Dragon" from the hand or face-up Extra Deck to the graveyard to Special Summon itself, and then adds any card that mentions Supreme King Z-ARC from the Deck. The copy of Four Heavenly Dragons you popped in your scale is exactly that "Pendulum Dragon" fodder.
Banish them · a live Z-ARC now
Summon them · three triggers later
The scale pop that starts your turn quietly loads the Extra Deck for both lines. That is the loop the wave was designed around.
The other Main Deck card in the same wave, and the piece that makes the face-up Extra Deck matter. A Level 7 DARK Spellcaster Pendulum, Scale 1, 2500 ATK — which also makes it a legal Tribute for Soul of the Supreme Celestial King.
Pendulum Effect: destroy it to place any Scale 1 Pendulum monster from the hand or Deck into your Pendulum Zone. Note the rider — the card it places cannot activate its Pendulum Effects this turn, so it is a scale-fixer, not a second engine piece.
When a face-up Monster Card you control is destroyed, Special Summon this card from the hand, then Special Summon one of those destroyed monsters from the graveyard or the face-up Extra Deck. It rebuilds off the pops the deck makes anyway.
Quick Effect during the Main Phase: Tribute it and Fusion Summon any Dragon Fusion Monster, shuffling its materials back from the field and the face-up Extra Deck. Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon and Supreme King Z-ARC both become opponent's-turn plays.
Pendulum decks need a way to proactively destroy their own scales. In the OCG and Master Duel that job belongs to Heavymetalfoes Electrumite. In the TCG, where it is Forbidden, the job was simply vacant. This wave fills it.
The gap this wave was built for
Faster, but the ordering is unforgiving
The Legendary ARC-V Decks box set (August 2026) finally completed Odd-Eyes' mechanical arsenal. With the arrival of Odd-Eyes Solblaze Dragon (a Synchro Tuner) and Odd-Eyes Override Dragon (the archetype's first dedicated Link Monster), Odd-Eyes became one of the only strategies in the game to coherently use every major Extra Deck mechanic—Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Link, and Pendulum—in a single, unified game plan.
Rather than a fragile, linear combo deck, the modern build functions as an adaptable, multi-layered strategy capable of playing through high-impact disruption: Override Dragon insulates the combo from mid-play handtraps and can rebuild a broken board on the fly, while Solblaze Dragon turns spent Extra Deck resources into a bridge toward towering Level 12 Synchro boss monsters.
Bridge
Synchro Summoned mid-combo to briefly revive a face-up Pendulum monster from the Extra Deck, then used as Synchro material itself to climb into a Level 12 boss like Supreme King Z-ARC - Synchro Universe.
Once it's spent, banish two other Extra Deck monsters from the GY to bring it back as a live body—turning otherwise-dead resources into another combo piece without touching your Normal or Pendulum Summon.
Shield
Linked away before the main Pendulum Summon so its Quick Effect is live: discard a card to negate whatever handtrap or interruption the opponent throws at the rest of the combo.
Once the coast is clear, destroy one of your own scales to draw a card and pick up a second Pendulum Summon—instantly rebuilding the board if it was broken anyway.
Pendulum decks have always been vulnerable to mid-combo handtraps like Nibiru, the Primal Being or Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring before an active negate is online. By laddering three Pendulum bodies into Beyond the Pendulum and then into Override Dragon, the deck can establish a discard-to-negate Quick Effect before committing its main Pendulum Summon, insulating the rest of the combo.
If the board still gets broken, Override Dragon can pop one of its own Pendulum scales to draw a card and immediately gain a second Pendulum Summon—rebuilding from a wipe in a single action. Solblaze Dragon complements this by banishing two spent Extra Deck monsters from the GY to revive itself as a live Level 8 body, without touching the Normal or Pendulum Summon.
Reprinted alongside the new dragons, Primite Lordly Lode searches Primite Roar, which Special Summons a Normal Tuner (Labradorite Dragon) and a DARK non-Tuner Normal Pendulum monster (Dragon Horn Hunter) straight from the deck—without using the Normal Summon. This sets up a Level 12 Synchro play before any hand resources are committed, baiting interaction early.
In formats where Heavymetalfoes Electrumite is legal, it searches Astrograph Sorcerer to trigger a rapid self-summon chain, climbing directly into Override Dragon as the 5th summon—ahead of any Nibiru window. Electrumite remains TCG-forbidden, so TCG lists lean on Beyond the Pendulum as the bridge instead.
For blind-second strategies, attacking with Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon and negating your own attack to trigger its effect, then following up with the quick-play spell Double or Nothing!, doubles its ATK for a second attack—a direct, high-damage OTK line.
Instead of passing on a purely reactive board, the modern build establishes Override Dragon mid-combo for handtrap insulation and a rebuildable Pendulum Summon, then still has the option to ladder into a towering Level 12 Synchro finisher.
Established before the main Pendulum Summon, Override Dragon's turn-player negate absorbs a handtrap that would otherwise blow out the rest of the combo, while its destroy-for-draw effect keeps a second Pendulum Summon in reserve if the board is broken anyway.
In Master Duel, Solblaze Dragon serves as a bridge to Level 12 Synchro monsters reminiscent of Centur-Ion plays, laddering into Crimson Dragon and ultimately Cosmic Blazar Dragon as a towering alternative finisher.
Odd-Eyes is currently assessed as a strong Rogue-tier strategy: a high ceiling—including consistent OCG First-Turn-Kill lines (Solblaze alongside Denglong, Cupid Pitch, and Thunder Dragon Colossus placed 2nd at YCSJ Osaka)—held back by the Pendulum mechanic's inherent hand-commitment fragility.
Of the three decks in the Legendary ARC-V Decks box, the community largely views Lunalight as the most meta-relevant, with Odd-Eyes sitting firmly in "decent but not Tier 1."
This tab preserves the deck's original strategic identity prior to the 2026 Legendary ARC-V Decks update. See the "Legendary ARC-V Update" tab for the current state of the archetype.
The Odd-Eyes archetype is a dynamic and complex force, representing a combo-centric Pendulum strategy renowned for its explosive, high-ceiling turns and access to a remarkably versatile Extra Deck toolbox. Its identity is flexible, often serving as the central chassis for a fusion of multiple archetypes like "Performapal," "Magician," and "Supreme King." At its core, Odd-Eyes can pivot between a "Vortex Control" approach, focusing on interruptions with Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, and an "OTK Turbo" strategy that leverages its swarming capabilities to end the duel in a single turn.
At the very center of the strategy lies Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon. Its Pendulum Effect is the engine's ignition: "If an 'Odd-Eyes' card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 'Odd-Eyes' monster from your hand, Deck, or GY." This transforms any self-destruction into a free Special Summon, forming the basis of the deck's most explosive plays.
The premier method for triggering Arc Pendulum Dragon is the Field Spell, Sky Iris. Its effect to target and destroy another face-up card you control to search an "Odd-Eyes" card is the primary engine starter. This re-frames the deck's mechanics: destruction is not a cost but an activation condition for a far more powerful effect.
The primary goal when going first is to construct a board with multiple layers of interaction. The "Absolute-to-Vortex" play is the most resource-efficient way to achieve this, converting two Level 7 monsters into a powerful Link monster and the deck's ultimate boss monster.
The premier boss monster, providing an omni-negate by shuffling a face-up Pendulum monster from the Extra Deck into the Main Deck. It also provides non-destructive removal upon being summoned.
A key enabler and interruption. As a Quick Effect, it can Tribute itself to bounce an opponent's card, then summons Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon from the deck for a monster negate.
While the Odd-Eyes core remains untouched, the archetype's The deck historically relied on powerful generic Pendulum support like Electrumite and Astrograph Sorcerer for maximum consistency. means restrictions on generic support cards do have an impact.
Meta Implications: Despite restrictions on support cards, Odd-Eyes's All core Odd-Eyes cards remain unrestricted, allowing the pure strategy to operate at full power despite generic Pendulum support being limited. allows the deck to remain viable with alternative tech choices.
