"The Orcust are corrupted World Legacy machines that orchestrate destruction through the banished zone. Each Orcust effect banishes itself to Special Summon or search, creating a symphony of mechanical recursion. Dingirsu conducts this dark orchestra, sending cards to the GY with a maestro's precision."

Crowned by the World Chalice
I · The forest
  1. In a world ruled by the seven Mekk-Knights and plagued by the insect-like Krawlers, a hidden village of humans lived in the Celestial Forest, shielded by a sacred staff. Its heir was Ib; with her lived her brother Ningirsu, their friend Auram and the dragon whelp Imduk.
  2. Following a mysterious voice, Ib found a giant structure that woke to her staff's glow: the World Chalice. A small fairy, Lee, asked the children to gather the seven scattered World Legacies and save the world from the Great Darkness.
  3. At the World Armor, the seven Mekk-Knights appeared in the colors of the rainbow, caught Ib in energy her staff could not resist, and vanished with her.
  4. When Ib wondered aloud whether they should be fighting the Mekk-Knights at all, Lee dropped her adorable face. She took over Ib's body as Iblee, stripped the others of the Chalice's power and tried to kill them, but the Mekk-Knights turned against her.
  5. Iblee turned the Mekk-Knights' cores into Knightmares, beasts of myth. Ningirsu cut Mermaid down in one blow and drew the rest onto himself, so that Auram could chase her.
  6. As Iblee raised a sword over the wounded Auram, Imduk leapt in front of her and held Lee back. For a moment Ib woke, saw what was happening, and turned the sword on herself.
  7. Ages before, humanity had unearthed the Key, a relic left by God. The scientist Lee believed it could grant the power of God, and even call forth the Great Darkness.
  8. Her team, the Crusadia, built a Mekk-Knight around the Key, and switching it on scorched the Earth black, as Lee had planned. Seven support Mekk-Knights destroyed it and were ordered to hold humanity back while the Earth healed. Lee's body died, but her soul hid in the World Chalice.
  9. Years later, Auram woke a Krawler and melded minds with it. Learning the world's secrets, he united its tribes into a new Crusadia alliance and took up the power of the World Crown.
  10. Ningirsu had taken Ib's body. To see her smile again, he built her a mechanical body and raised the tower Babel, guarded by the Orcust, machines left over from his experiments.
  11. Holding Auram back with his Orcust hordes, Ningirsu dropped the World Wand from orbit onto the Earth's core, to wake the World Ark and bring Ib back.
  12. Imduk gave his life to shield his friends from the impact. The World Ark remade him as Andrake, and every World Legacy woke as a dragon: the Guardragons.
  13. But when Ib's soul returned to the mechanical body, Lee seized it as Idlee and woke Deus X-Krawler to make herself a god. Imduk, consumed by death, stood in her way as Mardark.
  14. The World Chalice, now Guardragon Justicia, flew in from the Celestial Forest and merged with Ib: she was reborn as Ib the World Chalice Justiciar. The doll, who had named herself Galatea, had given her own soul in Ib's place.
  15. Ib called Imduk's soul back from Mardark, and he became Almarduke. Granting Galatea's dying wish, Ningirsu forged Dingirsu from Babel's remains and his Orcust army, and it destroyed Idlee.
  16. Lee's soul merged with the World Gears, and their power ran wild. Carrying the Key and every World Legacy, Auram awoke as the World Hero: Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax.
  17. Instead of destroying the vessel of God, Auram became one with it as Avida, Rebuilder of Worlds, and rebuilt the world he had lived in, with everyone lost in the war.
  18. A girl, Lib, woke beneath a calm night sky and set out on a journey with Imduk, guided by the faint light of the sword she held.
Who's who

Executive Summary

The Orcust archetype is a graveyard-centric engine of DARK Machine monsters known for its powerful, recursive gameplay loop. Its strategy revolves around banishing its Main Deck monsters from the Graveyard to activate potent effects, swarming the field to build into formidable Link and Xyz monsters. This ability to convert a single card into a full combo and generate advantage turn after turn has cemented Orcust as both a powerful pure strategy and a versatile engine in competitive play.

Core Mechanics

The Heart of the Orchestra

The central theme of the archetype is the ability to banish Main Deck "Orcust" monsters from the Graveyard to activate their effects. This turns the Graveyard into a resource, allowing for efficient summons from the Deck, Graveyard, or hand. This mechanical symphony of effects is what drives the deck's combos.

The "DARK Lock"

Upon resolving most "Orcust" Graveyard effects, the player is locked into Special Summoning only DARK monsters for the rest of the turn. This critical restriction creates a "point of no return" in combos, demanding careful sequencing of non-DARK monsters before committing to the Orcust line of play.

The Performers: Core Cards

The Orchestra

Orcust Harp Horror

The premier starter. Banishes itself from GY to Special Summon any "Orcust" from the Deck.

The boss monster. Provides non-targeting removal and protects your cards from destruction.

The Grand Finale: Deconstructing the End Board

The goal of an Orcust combo is not just to summon a single boss monster, but to construct an interactive system of disruptions designed to dismantle an opponent's strategy during their own turn. The standard end board is a web of on-field triggers and Graveyard effects, orchestrated by Orcustrated Babel.

Competitive Analysis

Strengths

  • Unmatched Grind Game: The archetype excels at out-resourcing opponents over multiple turns with its self-sustaining resource loop.
  • High Consistency: Multiple one-card starters (Girsu, Scrap Recycler, etc.) make the core combo highly accessible.
  • Versatile Engine: The small, modular engine can be easily integrated into other DARK-focused or Graveyard-centric strategies.

Weaknesses

  • Choke Points: The initial Normal Summon is a major choke point that is vulnerable to hand traps like Ash Blossom or Effect Veiler.
  • Graveyard Hate: Cards that banish from the Graveyard (like D.D. Crow) or prevent its use (like Abyss Dweller) can cripple the entire engine.
  • The DARK Lock: Requires careful combo sequencing and limits the range of Extra Deck monsters that can be used post-combo.

Synergies & External Engines

  • Phantom Knights: Provides access to powerful negates through Phantom Knights' Fog Blade and additional removal via Rusty Bardiche.
  • Scrap Engine: An explosive combo starter that can build a massive board before the DARK lock is initiated.
  • Danger! Engine: Offers free Special Summons for Link climbing and provides a reliable way to discard Orcust monsters from the hand.

Live TCG Banlist Status

Banlist Impact

While the Orcust core remains untouched, the archetype's The deck benefits from World Legacy support, DARK Machine synergy, and powerful Link monsters to extend plays. means restrictions on generic support cards do have an impact.

Affected Synergistic Cards

Forbidden

  • Knightmare Mermaid

Meta Implications: Despite restrictions on support cards, Orcust's Orcust Harp Horror and Orcustrated Return are Limited (1 each), significantly reducing consistency and recovery power. allows the deck to remain viable with alternative tech choices.
